The Tornillo Creek Bridge, constructed under the NPS Mission 66 program, at times seems to cross a dry river, with certainly no water in sight. But sudden rains, common to the area, are capable of turning a dry bed into a raging torrent. Mouth of the Santa Elena Canyon and the Rio Grande with reflection in water. Boquillas Village, on the Old Mexico side of the Rio Grande, provides a picturesque subject for a visitor's camera when photographed from a high point in Big Bend.
Girls on bluff overlooking Rio Grande near Boquillas. Sierra del Carmens of Mexico in background. A view of the Chisos Basin campground. Here, ramadas with tables and charcoal broilers, sanitary facilities, and campsites for tent and trailer are available without cost. A Mission 66 improvement.
