Obed Wild & Scenic River

Approximately 45 miles of wild and scenic river are comprised of the Obed River, Clear Creek, Daddy's Creek and Emory River. These water courses have cut rugged gorges leaving exciting whitewater gorges with bluffs as high as 500 feet above the water.

Recommended Activities
Whitewater paddling Class II - V in and around the park; boaters need to be experienced in remote whitewater up to Class V, and a minimum of five boats in a party is recommended. Knowledge of whitewater rescue is required to safely paddle most of the Obed/Emory watershed. Water conditions and levels can change in a short time due to rain; check weather and water levels before putting on the river. There are no lifeguards. Be aware that rivers have moving currents and can be dangerous, especially during high water. Camping:one primitive campground is located in the Nemo area of the park. Hiking trails are limited. Hunting and fishing are allowed in the park and State regulations are enforced. Climbing and rapelling on the park's numerous sandstone bluffs is another activity for the experienced outsdoorsperson with adequate gear and skill. Both climbing and whitewater boating are inherently dangerous activities that should not be engaged in by the inexperienced.
