Probably the first auto to enter Yosemite, a locomobile which entered the park in late June with Lippincott and Russell. Early visitors to Yosemite came into the Valley on horse-drawn stages over a dusty road clinging perilously to the steep slopes.

Using a helicopter to search cliffs for lost hiker. This type of equipment has been invaluable for search operations, as well as supplying fire fighters, patrolling a forest fire, and bringing injured persons from the high country. The Wawona Tunnel Tree stands vigil over the age of modernity. Sign reads: tree diameter - 26 feet; height - 227 feet, roadway built in 1875. Thousands of hikers, riders, and burro parties receive inspiration and benefit from traversing the more remote mountain sections of Yosemite.
